FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the things people reasonably want to know before spending time here.

About the site

Does any of this cost money?

No. Every guide, the glossary and all three tools are free, with no account, no email address and no paywall. There is nothing on this site to buy.

Do I need to sign up?

No. There is no registration of any kind. Your reading progress is stored in your own browser using local storage, which means it is private to your device and disappears if you clear your browser data.

What happened to the indicators?

AcruxCap previously published technical-analysis indicators. That side of the business has ended and all associated pages have been removed rather than left up. The site is now purely educational.

Do you sell signals, courses or mentorship?

No, and we do not intend to. See the about page for why that decision shapes what gets written here.

Do you take affiliate commission from brokers?

No. There are no affiliate links anywhere on this site. Where a third-party platform is mentioned — TradingView in the platform guide, for example — it is because it is the tool most beginners encounter, and we earn nothing from saying so.

Getting started

I know nothing at all. Where do I begin?

Start with how markets actually work, then reading candlestick charts. Those two give you the vocabulary for everything else. After that, skip ahead to risk management — earlier than most curricula would put it, because it matters more than anything in between.

How long does the whole library take?

Roughly four hours of reading across 25 guides. You do not need all of it before you start paper trading, but the foundations and risk tracks are not optional.

Which market should I trade?

See the markets comparison. Briefly: stocks if you like research and want to avoid leverage, forex if you need a market that is open outside office hours, and neither if you cannot yet explain what a stop-loss does when the market gaps.

How much money do I need?

That is genuinely the wrong first question. The right one is how much you can lose entirely without it affecting your life, because that is the realistic downside. Whatever that figure is, start with less than it while you are learning, and expect the first period to cost you money in exchange for experience.

Content and accuracy

Is this financial advice?

No. Everything here is general educational information. It takes no account of your circumstances, objectives or risk tolerance, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. See the risk disclaimer.

Will these guides make me profitable?

No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Broker disclosures consistently show that 70–80% of retail accounts lose money. What education can realistically do is remove the avoidable errors — oversized positions, no stop, no record of results, trading blind into scheduled news. That is worthwhile, and it is not the same as a guarantee.

You are quite negative about some popular techniques. Why?

Because the evidence is what it is. Candlestick patterns as standalone signals, moving average crossovers in ranging markets, and trading divergence against a strong trend all perform far worse than their popularity suggests. Saying so is more useful than repeating the standard claims — and each guide explains how to use those tools in the way that does hold up.

Something looks wrong. Can I report it?

Yes — email junaid@acruxcap.co.uk. Corrections are genuinely welcome, particularly on anything factual.

Technical

Are the market prices on the homepage live?

Yes. The strip at the top of the homepage pulls delayed-to-live quotes through a server-side proxy, refreshed roughly once a minute. If the data source is unavailable the strip simply keeps its last values rather than displaying zeros.

Is the sessions clock accurate for my timezone?

It should be. Session windows are defined in each financial centre's own local time and converted to yours through your browser's timezone, so they stay correct across daylight-saving changes in either location.

Do the tools send my numbers anywhere?

No. The position-size calculator and simulator run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted, logged or stored.

Do you use cookies or tracking?

Only consent-gated analytics, which do not load at all unless you accept. See the privacy policy for the detail.
